Favorite Links

Here I have decided to post my favorite genealogy links. These sites have not compensated me, but I believe that they are of great value as genealogy resources for genealogy researchers and think you should check them out. You will not find just a series of links to pay sites here, I have taken the time to visit these sites, and have determined that these sites have legitimate information value. All Of the following links open in a new window.

  • National Cemetery Administration - The Department Of Veteran's Affairs NCA Website, Includes a nationwide gravesite locator. If you are looking for a veteran's grave, you should start here.
  • National Archives and Records Administration - Historical Documents, Military records, census information. Yes you do not have to subscribe to "Ancestry dot com" to get the census records!
  • Genealogy Blog - A comprehensive Web Log: 'blog' with updated content and great articles. This site is worth a look. There are some advertisements.
  • The Association for Gravestone Studies - (Quoted from Site's Mission Statement) The Association for Gravestone Studies (AGS) was founded for the purpose of furthering the study and preservation of gravestones. Through its publications, conferences, workshops and exhibits, AGS promotes the study of gravestones from historical and artistic perspectives, expands public awareness of the significance of historic gravemarkers, and encourages individuals and groups to record and preserve gravestones.
  • Find A Grave - A large database containing 9 million+ transcriptions. All transcriptions are provided by visitors like you.
  • GraveInfo.com - A large compilation of New Jersey and New York Cemetery Records.
  • Cemetery Junction - A very large directory of cemeteries.
  • Cemeteries Photographed - Over 100,000 gravestone pictures!
  • Saving Graves - Truly informative website. I learn something every time I visit.
  • The Cemetery Project - Interesting website, 1000+ famous graves here.
  • Interment.net - A large transcription library.
  • A Very Grave Matter - Some interesting up-to-date cemetery news, several transcribed east coast cemeteries.
  • Graveyards Of Chicago - About 500 gravestone images, but there is a large listing of many cemetery locations primarily in the midwest.
  • Tombstone Transcription Project - A collaborative effort to get as many transcriptions and pictures online.
  • Dead Presidents - I enjoyed the tour he has set up through all of the president's graves that he has visited.

If you visit any of these sites and think that they require you to pay a fee in order to access their database of information, or if you have visited a website that you think other researchers would benefit from, please contact me.
